Falmouth Classics 2017 celebrates its 30th Anniversary

The Falmouth Classics Association is proud to announce that Tilley Endurables will continue as a title sponsor of the Falmouth Classics event during its 30th  anniversary year in 2017. Next year’s event will therefore be known as The Tilley Endurables Falmouth Classics 2017. The Association also continues to collaborate with local marine marketing agency, Fastnet Marketing, to help promote the next yachting event.

Falmouth Classics, supported by the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club, is the largest annual classic boat event in the South West and the second largest in the UK. The three-day iconic regatta coincides with the Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival, attracting over 40,000 people to Falmouth in June 2016, making it an exceptional time for both locals and visitors. The next event will take place from 16th – 18th June 2017.

Maddie Clark, General Manager for UK and Europe at Tilley Endurables, says:

“Continuing as the title sponsor for the second year running, and for the 30th Anniversary of the event, is a marvellous opportunity for the business. We are extremely proud to be a part of such a prestigious event.”

John Davison, Chairman of the Falmouth Classics Association, says:

“We are delighted to continue to work with Tilley Endurables as the title sponsor of the event. This, our 30th year, looks set to be bigger and better than ever.”

Sarah-Jayne Leverton, Managing Director of Fastnet Marketing, says:

“We are thoroughly pleased to have been chosen as the official media partner of Falmouth Classics for the second year running. We’ve enjoyed working with the Falmouth Classics Association and are thrilled to continue to promote and grow this iconic classic event.”

Falmouth Classics in 2016 attracted 174 participating luggers, gaffers, Bermudans and classic motor boats with crew numbers exceeding 500.

The three-day regatta in 2017 will include two parades of sail, one for vessels over 20’ and one for boats less than 20’. There will be two days of racing and onshore receptions and a barbecue at the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club. The Falmouth Classics organising team are looking forward to joining the RNLI to celebrate 150 years of lifeboats in Falmouth.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for partner sponsors providing a fantastic chance for local businesses to contribute to Falmouth Classics. Any money raised will be re-invested in order to improve the event for future years.

Tilley Endurables is the UK and Europe distributer of Tilley Hats, which originate from Canada. Tilley Hats were originally designed for sailing, but being smart, durable and water repellent, they have become popular with anyone enjoying the outdoors.
