Valhalla, a Sparkman & Stephens designed Swan 55 yawl built by Nautor OY, was launched in 1975 as Travel. She was the last of 16 Swan 55s built: eight sloops and eight, like her, with the yawl rig.
True to her original name, she has voyaged widely, crossing the Atlantic many times. As Swan Valhalla, she raced extensively through the 1990s and early 2000s, competing in some of the most demanding offshore races and high-profile regattas.
In more recent years she has been sailed less actively, and her sails, rigging and fittings are now showing their age. New owners Paul Moxon and Anne-Marie Coyle, both previous classic yacht owners and regular participants in Falmouth Classics, are gradually bringing her back into active use, learning the boat, refreshing her where needed, and returning her to the kind of sailing she was built for.
