Barnabas

Launched in 1881, Barnabas was first registered as a St Ives Class 2 Pilchard boat, but later as a mackerel driver.

She is the sole survivor of a fleet of over 1000. Often the oldest participant in Falmouth Classics.

She is owned by the Cornish Maritime Trust charity and sailed by members: Preservation, Education and Community are core values.

She attends most traditional festivals and in 2024, took two months out and sailed to north Scotland for new masts, then adventured homewards (inc IOM, SE Ireland, Wales and IOS) – a 2 month trip where over 40 crew joined on 1 week passages. History is in her timbers and cordage.
