A West Channel One Design built in 1949. She was designed by F. Morgan-Giles in Teignmouth, Devon, as an entry to a competition set by Yachting World magazine to encourage the re-establishment of small yacht racing following the end of WW2 hostilities.
Immediately prior to its current owner, Zeal was owned by Mike and Sally Beattie, son and daughter-in-law of Lieutenant-Commander Stephen Beattie who commanded HMS Campbeltown on the renowned raid at St Nazaire in 1942, which is commemorated at the Prince of Wales Pier in Falmouth.
