The Stormy Petrel was built as an oyster smack by R & C Perkins in Whitstable. She was owned and fished by them until 1928 when she became a watch-boat for the Oyster fishery East of the Isle of Sheppy. After the Second World War she was sold to the famous barge skipper Bob Roberts who kept her for 3 years before selling her on to his third hand. In 1962, she was bought by Dick Norris who lovingly cared for her for 56 years until last year (2018) when Joanna & Luke Powell took over ownership. They will be sailing her West in the later part of Spring 2019 to Cornwall. Her dimensions are 40’ on deck x 13’3” beam x 4’5” draft and she displaces 25 tons.
