The plans by Maurice Griffiths for Nyala were originally commissioned for a film by the American director F.P. Culbert.
She was completely restored for the first time in 1979 by the New Zealand carpenter Grant Adams and was
adapted for more extensive navigation and popularized by the journalist and novelist Sylvia Murphy as recorded in
her book “Keeping NYALA in Style”.
In 2011, NYALA benefited from a major new restoration, trying to keep her in style!
After 20 years in the Mediterranean, Nyala returned to her original waters in 2017 with her new owner.
Her home port is now Binic, in Brittany, in the Côtes d’Armor and she has been classified as a Patrimonial Interest
Boat (BIP) by the French official Association « Patrimoine Maritime et Fluvial ».
